Wraps

by jenneferta, Jan 23, 2008 01:07AM
Hello!

I am a new mom and as a new mom you tend to follow your mom's and grandma's advise on things. In our culture (COLOMBIA, SOUTH AMERICA), we have a custom of placing a wrap around the newborn's umbilical cord so it heal better and safely...also, so that the infant would not get a hernea from an adult holding he/her in a wrong way/position. Now, from what I have seen...no infant has ever gotten a hernea because they had the wrap. I have on the other hand seen other infants without the wrap who have gotten herneas. Am I just being perinoid or what? Anyone have an intake on this?
thanks!
