Xylometazoline hydrochloride

Xylometazoline hydrochloride

I am 19 weeks pregnant with baby number two, and have developed a extremely bad head cold and stuffed nose. I am having trouble sleeping and hence cant function the next day and was wondering if anyone had safely used the Otivine "junior" nasal spray for relief. I am worried about the systemic vasoconstrictor and teratogenic effect that the product label warns of. Any ideas?

Sorry I have no idea what those big words mean nor can I read them what you have just written LOL, but I have herd that any form of nasal spray relief of a cold during pregnancy is not a good idea.

based on what the label tells you, i wouldnt even use the medication. you can try some simple normal saline drops that are completely safe. also try using a vaporizer. that has helped me before. the vasoconstrictor nose spray i used before was Afrin(oxymetazoline). after becoming pregnant my Dr suggested not using it anymore. good luck! and feel better.
