Yaz Birth Control - How did it make you feel?

by lfb, Apr 28, 2008 07:55AM
I have been taking Yaz for about 4 months.  The last two months I have felt terrible.  I am almost to the point that I am going to the doctor for depression and anxiety.  However, I started researching Yaz on the internet and have figured out that I think most of my symptoms are coming from this pill.  My husband wants me to stop taking it and I would like to.  I have read about symptoms when  you stop, too.  Many women experience hair loss and lots of irregular bleeding.  Anyone have experiences with taking or stopping Yaz that you can share?

I forgot to ask how soon you felt like yourself after stopping this pill?

OMG....I have had hair loss and I just atributed it to my giving birth 4 months ago. I never lost that much hair after birth so I just thought getting on this pill jump started my hormones and made me start shedding.  It is only my second month taking it and I just started bleed a week before AF is due.  I am getting off this...I had my doubts and you just confirmed them.  Thank you so much for posting.  I was on Yasmin before my baby and I think I will get back on that!

I have had terrible hair loss, too.  I have been contributing it to giving birth, but my DD is 8 months old and I am still losing it!  I am extremely moody.  I mean to the point that I don't feel like I can function through my normal days.  Everything and I mean everything gets on my nerves.  I have never felt this way in my life.  I had a long talk with my husband last night and he suggested going off birth control for a while and see how I feel.  This is the first time I have thought that maybe it is the pill that is making me feel this way. When I started researching, I found that a lot of people have experienced similar things while on Yaz.  I am stopping it now!  I want my life back and I want to enjoy  my family!

I experienced hair loss until my daughter was about 8 months old and I have never taken Yaz.  Everyone including my doctor attributed to giving birth. It did stop and now it is back to normal. Good luck to you, it must be horrible feeling this way. Maybe you could try a different pill?

I think that hair loss after birth is natural, however mine started right when I started Yaz.  I think I am going to switch back to Yasmin since I know I have had no problems with it in the past.  I miss my thick hair!
lfb~ I would suggest trying a new pill too!

hi everyone, ok so i have been on YAZ for about five months, Im an 23 years old and have no kids, however, during my last month of taking the pill out of the five month duration, i lost tons of hair!!!! i thought it was do to the stress of my bf moving away, but then after i settles with that, my hair continued to fall out!! for 3-4 weeks after that. I finally figured out that the pill may cause such a side effects. SO i stopped, its been about 3-4 weeks and my hair is not falling out as much. i used to have very thick hair!!! :  (  However, the pill really helped my pmdd, i used to be very NUTS a week before my period. Now my crazy moods are returning and im constantly moody. I want to see if there is somethings else out there that can control pmdd. any suggestions. Also should i try Yasmin?? i want to get back on Birth control soon
