I'm really sorry to put in yet another post on HCG, but with all the great advise available on this forum, i know someone will tell me something to calm me down.
On the 27th of July my HCG level was 2093, low by my estimation, but my dr. wasn't concerned. I had another one done today and the count was 3215. The question is, isn't the HCG level supposed to doubleDouble-tussin dm every 73 hours after a count of 1600? My Dr. was ok with the fact that they were rising.
There was an issue with my measurement as well, that i had written on an earlier post. I thought i was 6 weeks when i had my last scan, but found out that i measured only 5. I've had a m/c before, so I'm looking for brutal truth answers so that i dont raise my hopes - am i heading for a mc?
The good news is that at a 5 wk scan you will only see a gestation sac. You won't see a hb until after 6wks.
You want the truth - so here is my humble story - I had the same symptoms as you when I MC in Feb. My HCG levels were rising but not doubling and if you think you should be 6 wk and only showing 5 wks that is disconcerting....
on the other handHand or foot spasms Hand tremor, the u/s may not be exact at this point so early in your pg ......so please stay positive - if you have not had any cramping or spottingVaginal bleeding between periods this is all good news - baby dust to you and all the best.......
Your count doubled in 77 1/2 hours, and at those hCG levels, (the range from 1200 - 6000) the rate is expected to doubleDouble-tussin dm every 72-96 hours. So it doesn't look like anything is wrong with your levels, and as the previous poster said, it is too early to think you are seeing anything abnormal on the u/s. (I have to assume you meant June 27 and not July 27 in your post.) As long as you are being monitored, you are doing the right thing. Good luck!!!
It is eary to see anything at 5w. I think you will be fine. I have read many stories of how this has happen and a baby is seen in the weeks to come. Good luck.
A very similar thing happened to me. i though i should have been 6 wks and was having some spottingVaginal bleeding between periods so dr checked my hcg and it went from 4600 and 24 hours later to 6300 so they did not double and u/s showed gestational and yolk sac and i was only measuring at 5 wks i went back a wk later and we saw the baby with a nice strong heart beat. Anything can happen the dr thought for sure i would misscarry but i didn't and the baby is growing fine i am now 9 wks. i hope everything is good for you
Are you sure your tests were only 24 hours apart? Usually they do them 48 hours apart. If only 24, the doctor had no business implying you would miscarry, since that is a good rate of increase for only 24 hours' difference.
I had a question, the nurse practioner told me that she could not figure out how far long I was because there was no fetal pole. I asked her if she could go by the size of the yolk sac or getational sac and she said no, because there was no fetal pole....how did you find out approx. age or how far long you were by the size of the sac?
Also, because according to my LMP, I was suppose to be 7 weeks when they examined me and they did not see a fetal pole, but Gest. sac and yolk sac and my HCG levels have risen but not doubled from TH to SA, the nurse practioner is sort of mentioning a possible D & C if they do not see anything this coming TH's second ultrasound.
Do you think these physicians are jumping to conclusions too early?
I hope there is a healthy baby that will be seen on TH....
I am a novice but I have learned alot these past two months. First of all I think these Hcg levels were evented to turtore all pregnant woman. Yes typically your numbers should double but I was told if they are rising that is ok too in the beginning. If you are concerned have then done 2-3 times a week. The secret is to have them done as close to 24hrs (exact) apaprt as you can. Also, if you are not totally comfotable with your OB switch. My levels were rising but they started out lower. I saw a heartbeat just last week. I had brown spotting and then m/c. Are you taking progesterone supplemts? Good Luck, Liz
I have good news that will hopefully encourage you, last week
I was 7 weeks and one day when I went in for my first ultrasound. They only saw a yolk sac, gest. sac, and what they thought to be a placenta, but no fetal pole. They even took blood tests for my HCG levels. Well, my HCg levels were rising but not doubling. They basically told me that if they could not see a fetal pole at my next visit I would need to get a D & C, I was so scared. I prayed and prayed and hoped for the best. Well, today I went in for my second visit and there it was, the baby and a strong heartbeat. I am now about 8 weeks pregnant!
