Yolk sac in U/S....anyone

by Kat0513, Oct 03, 2007 12:39PM
I just had an u/s done a few hours ago and am waiting to hear back from the doctor.  There was a h/b and fetus is measuring at 7 weeks.
I was curious if any of you saw a yolk sac next to the fetus around 7 weeks.  I had a previous pregnancy and don’t recall ever seeing a yolk sac.  I thought the yolk sac should be gone by  now.  The u/s tech said everything looked good.  Any insight is appreciated.

yep it's there until about 10-13 weeks.... i just had one at 7 weeks and 2 days and saw a nice round yolk sac. it feeds the baby until the placenta takes over.

That is good news.  Looking back at all my other u/s pics it was never there.  Maybe this is a good sign, I lost my last pregnancy.

Yes, my u/s last weeks she pointed out the yolk sac, that was at 6 weeks.

I just had one today at 6w4d and there is a yolk sac - I think - a round little circle above the baby.

at 5 weeks you usually see only a yolk sac
6 weeks a fetal pole with yolk sac attached (so sometimes they dont point it out and you cant really tell it's there)
7 weeks the baby and the yolk sac
8-12 weeks you might not even see it. could be hiding.
after that you wont see it anyway.

yes, i just had one done at 7.5 weeks and there was a yolk sac. My question is tho, i always here people talking about a fetal pole. all she showed me was "the baby" yolk sac and heartbeat.??

I just had a u/s and the yolk sac wasn't attached to the baby.  I am 7 weeks.  Should it be attached?

mam2kja above had posted that it would be attached. did they say it wasnt attched? i just seen both, but didnt notice that. was there a heartbeat? at 7 weeks you should see a hearbeat.
