am i the father

me and my girlfrend  have been having unprotected sex until may 24th  and then we broke up on the 25th after that she told me she had been having unprotected sex with other guys i havent seen her for 3mos and then she contacted me telling me that she is pregnant and the due date would be on feb 23 would i be concerned if i am the father of the child? and as i remember but not that sure i think she had a period on may 22nd can you please help me im really confused i dont know what to do

Well, it’s not too likely that you are the father of the child. Your ex-girlfriend would have had her last period around 19th-20th of May— plus or minus 2-3 days this side or that. Then she would have ovulated around 2nd of June (plus or minus 1-2 days this side and that). So ideally sex between May 29-30 to June 4-5 would have made her pregnant. So if you broke up on 25th May, and did not have sex with her after 24th May, it is less likely that you are the father of her child. However, women are known to ovulate earlier or later than expected, so the possibility of her ovulating earlier remains. Also the only way you can confirm whether you are the father or not is through a paternity test. Take care!

If you put May 24th as a conception date (the last date you had sex but remember that sperm can survive for around 5 days so conception could actually occur on May 29th from having sex on the 24th) then you would come up with a due date of Feb 14th, which means it could possibly be Feb 19th - a bit too close for comfort to say 'no, the baby definitely is not yours'.  

Bear in mind that these calendars (and the above statement) go by average cycle lengths and average ovulation times too, so they are not absolutely exact.  You would need to know the exact date your girlfriend ovulated to say the baby definitely isn't yours.  I personally know for sure that I have ovulated and conceived both immediately after a period has ended and immediately before I was due to start.

Your ex obviously realises that the baby could possibly be yours (but maybe not definitely) and that's why she is asking the question of you.  Just answer her honestly.  You can have a DNA test to find out for sure, later on.
