amniotic fluid too high

amniotic fluid too high

I went to my ob appt yesterday and got the results of my last u/s.  The doctor said that my amniotic fluid was too high.  She said that she wasn't going to do anything about it but that if I don't deliver by next friday she'd induce me.  I'm already dilated to 4 and last night was having contractions about every five minutes.  Weird thing is they stopped right when we were about to go to the hospital.  Has anyone had any experience with this?  I've heard of low amniotic fluid but not too much.  I am 38.6 weeks pg.  Thanks in advance for any help!!!

I had high fluid but that was due to having gd.  It was monitiored to make sure that the baby was okay. But if this is something new they may be concerned for toxemia or preeclampsia (unsure if that does produce more fluid or not.) But if you are so close to term it just may be bebtter for you to get to hold your little one.

I had a lot of fluid too that's why my little one kept flipping breech till the last minute.  Mine must not have been that high since my Dr. was not concerned.  I did have the contractions doing that to me too with my son.  I would get to every six minutes then they would just stop.  Sounds like you will go soon though, good luck!

thanks for your comments.  Its so darn frustrating!!  I'm hoping that I'll go into labor soon on my own.  I just can't wait to hold this little guy and know that he is ok.  I looked up infor on too much fluid on the net and now I'm even more worried.  Sometimes too much information is not a good thing.

I have low amniotic fluid and I am 30 weeks. (I found out my fluid level was low at 20 weeks!) I too looked it up and was REALLY worried.  IF your doctor is not concerned, then everything must be fine.  I went for an ultrasound again at 22 weeks and my level was up to where it should be.  Remember when getting information on the internet that the words "MIGHT CAUSE.." or "MAY CAUSE.."  are important.  These are just possibilities!  Best of luck to you!

my wife and I are really nervous.  We have a 16 month old(first child) with a central nervous system disorder.  My wife is 33 weeks right now and everything has been perfect until last Friday.  They told her at her 32 week ultrasound that she has high amniatic fluid(28cm's).  After reading the online info we are now concerned that this is another CNS disorder.  However she had great ultrasounds for 28 weeks.  Any experience?
