another question, please help

by Betty B., Feb 24, 2005 12:00AM
Since i have PCOS my cycle is abnormal so I rarely get my period. When my doc put me on clomid, he put me on provera too, which made me get the period before taking the clomid.

My question is:
now that I've decided to stop the pills for a while, and try the southbeach diet instead,  I understand that most probably I will not be getting my period, is it still possible to conceive even without getting the period, or do i put all my hp tests away for a while until I take the provera again?... can you explain me how it works exactly?

What pill are you going to stop?
From what I understand you are getting fertility help? Right?
So i am only assuming they mentioned weight!(let me know if i am wrong) My sister went through this too. And it pisses me off with the weight thing (I assume thats why your trying the south beach diet thing)  I am overweight and yes it may put some stress on your body but I can do lots of things  I believe you can be fat but fit!!  I got pregnant at my heaviest (Now he is 3 months old) and my husband even had a vasectomy for 2 years
No you cant get pregnant without a period    a egg comes down and waits to be fertilized and if nothing happens thats when the uterus sloffs off (this is your period)
Let me know  thanks

To: cinnamon and betty
cinnamon- once again I will tell you that she is not going to try the diet because of weight!!! She is doing it to help treat the insulin resistance that comes along with PCOS. I'm sure you are a really nice person- but I'm getting kinda tired of having to repeat myself. :o) Excuse me if I'm a bit hormonal. I don't mean to come off sounding like a B.

Betty- I think I'd have your doctor give you the provera one more time about a week after you the diet. (the reason for this is because after about a week on the diet the insulin resistance should be gone and then you'll start your cycle with "normal" blood chemistry) If you don't start your cycle again after about a month and you aren't pregnant (crossing my fingers for you) I'd ask for the provera again. You have to ovulate to get pregnant and usually if you aren't starting your period it is because you never ovulated.

It can happen for you hon!! It can. My hubby has a low count and low motility and I have PCOS and it happened for us. :o)

If you have any other questions just let me know. And if you want to email me my email is ***@****

Well Ms.Stacie  I never seen that she was doing it for that reason
I know with fertility clinics they get all over you for being over weight as a reason for not getting pregnant
Hope all goes well then betty b
