anticardiolipin antibodies & heparin therapy- anyone?

Hi there,
I have 4 children and I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant with baby no 5 (I've had 2 early m/c's 3 babies apart)

3 years ago when I was p/g with my last DD they picked up (at approx 17 weeks) I had borderline elevated anticardiolipin antibodies (I think the figure was 17 - (?)
I've since had a miscarriage though it was I think a blighted ovum and not connected to this.
I went for my dating ultrasound yesterday and after they took some routine bloods I saw the consultant who said I had to come back next Tuesday for my meds to be revised as I currently take one 75mg (baby) aspirin a day and I may need to have heparin therapy. I only took the aspirin through pregnancy with my DD and I don't remember them ever mentioning heparin at all.

I just wondered if anyone here was on heparin for a similar condition and if they do change it what should I expect/ what does it involve and any side effects etc...

Thanks in advance,

Ruth xx

I've had 5 miscarriagies and I am currently 25w5d with my first baby.  His name is X'zavior.  I take 81mg of baby asprin in the morning and at night I take a Fragmin shot to thin my blood.  Never knew I had blood clots until they did one simple little blood test on me.  I am getting use to the shots only 99 more to go. YIPPIE!!  I am not to kin on them especially when I start bursing.  My husband gives them to me in the booty.  They told me to try my upper thigh or my belly but then I'd be able to see the needle.  I hope everything works out for you.  Take care

Hi there

Deanne11, How are you? You're almost half way now aren't you?
I thought I remembered you said you were on something for your condition but then I wasn't sure if it would be the same.
How are you finding it? What are the side effects (if any)
I may not need it after all, but I just want to prepare myself in case they say I do.

Pamed34 wow a little boy! Lovely name btw very unusual :)
I am a bit worried about giving myself shots :( my DH is a bit squeamish when it comes to needles so there'll be no help there!
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and thanks for the reply,

Hugs

Ruth xx
