Hi ladies.  Ok, here is my breast feeding speech.
First, congrats on your pregnancies.  Second, congrats on making the decision to BF.
Now, I go into details.
Yes, it's going to be tough and yes it's going to hurt BUT the benefits so outweight the draw backs.
It doesn't come as naturally as you think.  Meaning the baby doesn't just latch on.  It takes practice and patience so don't give up in the first day or two.  Most babies lose a few ounces before they leave the hospital anyway so don't let that concern you either.  My DD didn't really attach herself to the breast until about 5 days after she was born but babies can sense your tension so try to remain as relaxed as possible.
As far as it hurting goes, well yes, there will be some discomfort.  I remember having days I coudln't even bear the thought of nursing her beacuse my nipples were on fire but I got through it and it doesn't last long.  Hey, you've come all this way already right?
Now, my DD is 6months old.  She still loves to nurse.  She has never been sick.  She has more than tripled her birth weight and she is super smart.
That is not to say it's just because I breast fed but I believe it has a little something to do with it.
There is nothing in the world like lying there and watching your child nurse and it gets even better when they look into your eyes as they do it and hold onto your breast.  It's something ONLY a mother and child can share.  Enjoy it while you can.  They grow up so fast.  There is nothing I would rather do with my time than nurse her.
good luck.

You worries are totally normal!  I nursed both of my first children and totally expect to nurse this baby for as long as I can.  It is uncomfortable at first, and if the baby doesn't latch on properly it can hurt, but other than that for me; there was nothing more fulfilling than to lay down or lean back as my child nursed.  And it is the best for them too!

These ladies are right...You are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to nurse a child, and I highly suggest that you take full advantage of that.  It is wonderful, and I will guarantee that you will never regret it...

It is FREE
You don't have to prepare it at 2am
You don't have to pack anything in the diaper bag
Your child will get the advantage of milk that was MADE for her...complete with antibodies and all!
Your uterus will shrink in no time...much faster
You will REQUIRE more calories a day than pregnancy does.
You will lose weight MUCH easier.

The list goes on.
Yes, it will be uncomfortable AT FIRST, it will get to the point that weaning will make you cry.  I can't WAIT to nurse this third child.  Good luck*****

Yes, I am very worried that my nipples are going to hurt like crazy.  They are very sore now and I'm not sure it will feel that great when my baby is going to suck on them.  I can't even let my bf touch them gosh they hurt so bad.

I nursed my dd for 5 months and my ds for 17.  Get lots of help in the beginning.  Talk to LaLeche League they are the experts.  It is rough at first.  And it can hurt, but with a good latch there should be very little pain.  With my son I never had sore nipples.  There is 12.5 years between my kids.  I was very relaxed with my second.  Knew it takes a few weeks to get things going smoothly.

Get some Lansinoh or other 100 percent lanolin for your BBs.  If you can get through the first two weeks I will tell you it's a breeze after that.  It does hurt at first, but like I said after two weeks it doesn't and you get to focus on your little bundle of joy.  there is NOTHING like it.  Lansinoh was a life saver for both my DS's it's kinda spendy, but SOOOO worth it.  Congrats!! and talk to a nurse or a lactation consultant if you have questions, that's what they are there for. Good Luck
