anyone w/ clotting disorders or gene mutations?

I just found out that I have these 2 MTHFR gene mutations and some other related clotting disorder that could require anything from baby aspirin to heparin and could explain 2 early mc's--has anyone else come across this while trying to get pregnant?

What type of clotting disorder is it? My little sister was diagnosed with Von willebrond's diesese (sp) recently and I know alot of free resources for it.

Thanks for the info--it seems like there are a few different clotting tests that I've failed with words like: anti-cardiolipin antibodies, Protein S, plus the MTHFR gene mutation. So I'm still learning what this is all about. Not fun!

I know what you mean my sister is only 10 and dealing with the clotting disorder so it can be difficult at times. I hope everything works out for you.

I am taking asparin (aspirin) and heparin therapies for pregancy also.  The way it was explained to me is this: when you get pregnant your blood levels change and you become hyper anticoagualted (you clot alot).  This may cause microscopic blood clots to enter the placenta and block blood flow to the baby.  In order to prevent this clotting asparin (aspirin) and heparin thin your blood and cause your platelts to not "stick" together also preventing clots.  Hope this helped...

5Prayer--yes, that sounds like what the doctor was explaining to me, too. He did say I'd go on heparin (or actually lovenox, which is only 1 shot s day), but said that asprin doesn't help in this situation, but I couldn't understand why. May I ask what your diagnosis was? Have you started doing the shots?
