This is confusing, but you can find a bunch of stuff by doing a search using eye color inheritance, genetics of eye color, etc.

My daughter was almost 3 which is SO weird because it usually changes (i thought) within the first year, it's funny to see her pic's with blue eyes, even her baby id with the police has her listed as blue! She is now a beautiful hazel color, my eyes are greenish and DH is a darker hazel than our daughter's. She's 11 now.

on average it can take up to a year for baby's eye colour to change.

To figure out baby's eye color, you have to go back one more generation - unless both you and your DH'S parents both had brown eyes, there is still a chance your children could have blue.  Blue is recessive to brown, so even if your eyes are brown, if one of your parents had green, blue or hazel eyes, you could pass on a different colour to your kids.  Same for DH.  As for when they change colour, I think it's usually within the first 12 months... hope this helps!

Normally a baby's eyes change in the first year, but my aunt had blue eyes until she was 10 and then they turned to a dark brown!! I guess anything can happen!!

i am the only one in my family who has bluish colored eyes..but i think my grandfather or great-gpa had blue eyes...my eyes were a very clear, gorgeous blue until i turned about 11...then they started changing to a bluish-green...not hazel though cuz there is no brown. i still say my eyes are blue...depending on what im wearing they can be blue or green

It can take uo to a year. My oldest took about 6 months and my youngest took up to 1 year. My eyes are blue and DH has brown. It seemed with our 2nd that our genes battled and she ended up with eyes that are green a little brown and a tiny bit blue. My oldest seemed very dark green and then they are an amber brown now.

I am curious about the eye color of our baby.  My dad is dark eyed --my mom has light blue eyes --my eyes are blue--but I am the only one of all three of us kids with blue eyes.

Everyone in DH's family has dark brown eyes except that his grandmother had blue eyes.  H-but his mom's family all have dark brown eyes.  He is also from a country where 98% of the population have dark eyes.
His eyes are a gorgeous green/hazel and they are slighly slanted like a cat.

Wondering if baby girl will have daddy's green cat eyes??

My three year old's eyes havn't stopped changing. They went from dark blue, light blue to now looking kind of grey. Thats how I was. My eyes were blue until I was 13 when they turned, blueish-greenish-grey. I wonder if puberty has anything to do with it. Another thing. All my life my hair has been stick straight! Now I'm 21 on my third pg and my hair is crazy curly, I have transformer genes!

Hi there! here's what I've seen, I'm from a country where more than 80% of people have dark eys. If our relatives, especially grand and great grandparents do not have light eyes, most likely  your baby's eyes will get darker later on, there's a good possibility that they'll turn green. Until he/she grows after toddle age it will be interesting to keep wondering...

My hair was stick straight too and got curly after my son was born.  I was told it was from the hormones and probably won't go back to straight again.  I have a friend whse hari got curlier with each baby too!

My DD is almost 5 months old and still has blue eyes. All my other kids have brown eyes as so do I, my DH has hazel eyes. I was so glad to have a child with blue eyes...they are soooooo beautiful. Of course I love 3 of my kids having my color eyes...the blue just throws everybody for a loop. I hope they stay blue. I was wondering the same thing.

My mom was the only girl in her family to enherihit blue eyes and neither of her parents had blue eyes. She said that means she has the dominant blue eyed gene, I don't know how it works but she is a nurse and pretty smart. And she had three blue eyed girls, except that mine turned dark at puberty, but my sisters still have there blues, we joke that it's because I was the black sheep of the family:) But I love my greyish blue green eyes!

Here is a really good site about the genetics of eye colour:

http://www.seps.org/cvoracle/faq/eyecolor.html

As you can see it's fairly complicated... which is why you can have two blue-eyed parents producing a brown-eyed baby (with older theories, this couldn't happen, since brown is dominant to blue).
