baby heartbeat & Ultrasound question..

baby heartbeat & Ultrasound question..

sorry another question-

I went to the Dr at 8 weeks and they couldn't hear the heartbeat with the doppler is this normal? Dr said it was...

Also my friend just got her ultrasound.. she is 10 weeks and I am 9 weeks....
my ultrasound just looked like a lima bean hers was up close adn you could see the body and stuff. i am thinking it is because the picture was closer up than mine. what did you first early ultrasound look like?

My first U/S looked like a little circle, inside a circle, with a circle.  LOL  There wasn't much.  Neither were my other two.  It wasn't till I was about 12 weeks that I could see a baby on the monitor.

As for your heartbeat with a doppler, I was 12 weeks and they had a hard time finding the heartbeat of my baby (which made me gasp and hold my breath because I was so worried).  I am 14 weeks right now, and hoping they use the U/S today at my Doctor appointment because the doppler can be very uncomfortable, especially with my abdominal incision from my surgery lol.

I had a transvaginal u/s at 7w3d and we could not hear the heartbeat, but it was there: 145 bpm! I had another tv u/s at 9w6d and got to hear the heartbeat. I will have my first prenatal visit at 11w2d and hope to hear the heartbeat by doppler. I am 10w2d today!

It is way to early to hear a heart beat, I guess it is possible.  They heard mine at 12w.  Don't worry you are fine.  You Dr. was right - wait till 10w and then you should hear it and even if you don't then, don't worry. it could take up to the 12th week to hear

there are many reasons your U/s could look different. different offices have different equipment. if yours was done externally, the picture is definitely not as clear. my 9 weeks u/s was done internally, and the picture was sooo much better than my 12 week u/s which was done externally. also, your body can play a major role. if your uterus is angled differently, or the baby is positioned differently. this could also explain why you didn't hear a HB. doctors generally don't give false hope and are up front about the possibility of something being wrong. if he didn't sound concerned, i wouldn't worry.
