baby names??? HELP PLEASE???

baby names??? HELP PLEASE???

Hi ladies, ok I have a question about baby names.......

When I first got pregnant I decided on Morgan as a girls name, and Jaylen as a boy's name, now I don't know....

What do you think of Morgan?
I was thinking of the name Brooke or Madison?
What do you guys think?

Ok and for the boys name? Jaylen is soooo common... I was thinking Jaiden or Javien or Jaycob?

Please help ladies, oh and for the girl I don't have a middle name at all!!! Need something that will fit with Morgan...

Do you think all of these are common names? I am ok with common but I just want the spelling to be different.

Any opinions are greatly appreciated...
Thanks in advance!!!

for a girl what about Madison Morgan as the first and middle, or the other way around? of course it depends what the last name is too, to see if it all flows together :) We are naming our little boy Jacob. He should be making his appearance anyday now! If we had a girl we were going with Mackenzie.

I like Jacob, but not Jaycob. I like Morgan for a girl..very cute. I have a Sydney Meghan, but Sydney Morgan would have been just as cute.

personally i dont like Morgan it remindes me of the guy that did that show where he ate fast food for 30 days strait. But i do love Brooklyn i think it is beautiful

as for boys names jaylyn is cute and when he gets older he can go by Jay.

See for boy's name, we are sticking with the Jay part, because my fiancee's name is Jay (not his real name) but thats what everyone call him. And he refuses to let the boy's name be his, and I like his name. BTW his real name is Jarmon... pronounced "Ja mon"

i think jaylen is more feminine. i like masculine names for girls (i have a friend with a stevie) but i think if a mans name is "girly" it could cause problems in school. i have a friend who just had a brooklyn grace. some of the little boys i know are jace, race (dad is a fan lol), i have a caleb, but i suppose there are a million. and really only you and dad have to like the name.

Mekkah - why do you want the spelling to be different?

I vote for names that people can spell,  and know the gender,  when they hear it.

Best wishes with your delivery!

I am an elementary teacher and have MANY little girls named Madison or Madelyn (various spellings), but they all have the nickname of Maddie!  Its funny how popularity is so regional.  The only name my husband and I could agree upon for our DD 5 years ago was Emily.  We didn't even know it was the number 1 name at the time.  Fortunately, there aren't many Emilys in our area.  I guess my point is that this time around, we are trying to choose something timeless, but not something that half of their kindergarten class will also be named.

I agree with some of the previous posters....I think Jaylen is more feminine (I know 2 girls named that). I do like Jacob...but I wouldn't go with the "Y" as it'll get spelled wrong all his life. Some friends of mine have a Jason that they spelled Jayson (his dad's name is Jay---Jays son).

I like Morgan, too. Madison is really really popular around here! There are lots of Madison's, Madeline's and Addisons.

Not necessarily, the names that I have chosen like Morgan and Jaylen are universal. When people think of Jaylen, it is actually at boys name and Morgan is too. I do know men named Morgan and women named Morgan, and vice versa. The same thing with Jaylen, my best friends son is named Jailen, its just spelled different. But children are going to pick with a child regardless, everyone went thru it, and there is nothing you can do to change it. If its not their name its going to be something else.. so you cannot prevent that.

However i would like it spelled different to be unique, it is not like I am spelling it outrageous, like some mothers would do. Like I said before I am ok with common, I just want a sense of uniqueness. I believe a child will not have a problem with spelling his or her name as long as its sensible.  There are a lot of people that spell names different, that does not mean that the child cannot spell it.

But anyway thanks ladies for all advice

I really like the name Jaxon (Jackson), when he gets older people can call him Jax.  My friend's son is due on Monday May 7th, she had settled on the name Riley Jacob for a very long time until her mom saw someone on TV with the name Ryker, now his name will be Ryker Jacob Riley.  Everyone hated that name at first, but after a while it grows on you.

I agree with you about children picking on other children, but it's hard when it's your name and you can't get away from it.

As for girls names, I love the name Morgan, it is hard to pick out middle names to go with it though.  What about Morgan Ashley or Morgan Sierra.  I've also always loved the name Georgia Summer Rain, I think it has a nice flow to it.  I have a big thing with three names, I'm not sure why!!

Good luck.

I understand the desire to have something unique, but you might want to consider doing it with the name and not with the spelling of the name.  Kids get really embarassed having to explain all the time to teachers, etc. but it also bugs them to see it spelled wrong.  I have a friend named Lyndsey, and she says she just wishes her mom would have spelled it Lindsay, because she got so flustered as a kid having to correct people.  There are a lot of unique historical names not used so much now that are very pretty, and if a person heard them they would know how to spell them, and it might be worth looking that direction.  That said, I thought Jax was cute.  :)  Perty, for what it's worth, Jaylen sounds more feminine than masculine to my ear also.

You are right!  My sister's name is Jaicianne (pronounced JC anne), and yeah, shes had it tough in that department, but I love her name, and I think she finally does too.Even with all her misspelling encounters, she named her baby Caedyn.  On the other hand my daughter Destiny wished her name was more common like Kelly.  You cant win.

So, good point;O}

Yes, CLASSROOM teachers should know spellings.  It gets a bit tougher when you teach 600 students as I do, though.  I sure do my best, but it is very hard to remember every alternate spelling off the cuff.

A person with an alternate spelling of a name can expect life-long issues with name misspellings.  Be prepared-have an open mind and a sense of humor about it all.

I say spell your kids name the way you want, its up to the teachers to KNOW how their kids names are spelled.  And I know a boy named Jalon (pronounced the same as your choice) and it is in the Bible as a mans name.

And your right, my name is soooooooo common (5 Jennifers in my tiny class of 27 kids) and I still got picked on for my last name, which isnt all that different.  Kids are cruel and you just have to try to raise yours different and more sensitive to others.  Its not up to the one whos being picked on to change, its up to the parents to raise kids that are less likely to tease and name call.

Case in point:  At a CHRISTIAN school nearby, this one bully was teasing a kid for not having those "Heely's", ya know, with the wheel in the heel, and they got in a big fight, and you know what the principle of this so called Christian school said to the parents at a conference?  She asked them, why dont you just get your kid the shoes to stop the kids from teasing him?"  WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?  Thats assanine. Name your kid what you like and what sounds good to you.  Spell it the way you want.  (I mean, there are obvious things not to do, like name a boy Sally or something, but come on) As a teenager, it is cool to have a different name.
