baby needs to gain weight, cant have dairy

my 15 mo old son is not gaining enough weight.  he was 7lbs10oz at birth and is only 19lbs now.  he cannot have any dairy.  he is deathly allergic to it.  so no milk, yogurt, anything with whey, casein, cheese....  i was already at a loss as what to feed him (he gets lots of veggies, fruits and meat.  some rice and noodles) but he doesn't like potatoes and i don't know how to sneak the calories in that he needs.  he drinks soy milk now.  any suggestions?  (does fruit juice have more calories than soy milk?)

These blender drink recipes were given to me a while ago when James was seeing specialists because of his feeding problems. They were given to me as an alternative to pediasure. They are packed with protien and vitamins;

The soy alternatives are for those with allergies to dairy and of course these recipes are designed for kids over a year old (ie honey & peanut butter)

Banana Breakfast Booster (makes 4 servings);

2 1/2 cups milk (or soy beverage)
4 tbsp skim milk powder (or soy protien powder)
1 medium banana cut up
2 tbsp liquid honey
1/3 cup froxen orange juice concentrate (thawed)

Wake Up Shake (makes 3 servings);

1 cup milk (or soy beverage)
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream (or frozen soy dessert)
4 tbsp skimmed milk powder (or soy protien powder)
1/2 cup drained sliced peaches
1/3 cup lemonade concentrate (thawed)

Ban-Apple Lassi (makes 2 servings);

1/2 cup yoghurt or silken tofu
1/2 cup apple juice
1 banana
cinnamon to taste

Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake (makes 4 servings);

2 cups chocolate milk (or chocolate soy milk)
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 pint vanilla ice cream (or frozen soy dessert).

You can create many different fruity versions of these drinks, in your son's case use soy milk and soy protein powder and then can add any mix of his favourite fruits.

Also another thing I did was add olive oil to his veggies for a little extra calories and fat. I also added ground almonds to puddings and apple sauce for extra protein and calories. Wheatgerm is also another ingredient that you can add to casseroles, breakfast cereals and puddings that sneaks in extra goodness and calories.
