baby pimples

baby pimples

Just a quick question.  Our baby (Chloe) was born a month ago and she has baby pimples on her cheeks.  Sometimes it looks like it's getting better then the next day she's all broke out again.  I asked the dr. and he said it was the breastmilk well I stopped that about 2 weeks and she still has them.  Is there something I can put on her face for it or do I need to take her to dr.  We use  Dreft soap.  My other children never had them I don't know what to do? Any help would help.

You didn't stop the breast feeding because of the pimples, did you?  You might try a water-only sponge bath on the face every night, and being sure she is not too warm at night.  (Her back, inside the neck of her shirt, should be warm but her hands and feet should be cool.)  My son gets little red dots on his skin the next day if he gets overheated at night.

I REALLY hope you didn't stop breastfeeding because this doc said it was causing your baby to have acne!!

Some babies have it,  some don't.    Formula fed babies get it too.

Just wash your baby's face with water,  and avoid harsh soaps and lotions - I'm sure you're already doing that!

This,  too,  shall pass.

One of my boys had it as a baby,  the other two had perfect peaches and cream skin as babies.  One of the peaches and cream babies had acne as a teenager - the one who had it as a baby didn't.  Go figure.  ;D

It is very very common and has something to do with the hormonal changes in your baby - from being flooded with your hormones during pregnancy to developing their own. Anyway, a friendly nurse told me to use baking soda in the water I washed my son with, no soap or any other irritant - and that did really clear it up.

my daughter had it too... they werent really "pimples" per se, but they were white dots that resembled pimples.  my husband was freaking and had me ask the pediatrician about them... the doc said they were normal and that they would go away.

they did.

The reason I stopped breastfeeding my milk dried up.  I don't know why it did but it did.

Hi, my ds also had baby acne, the doc wanted to give him hydrcortisone, I was not going for that!!  I went to the well baby clinic and the public health nurse and she told me to stop using all scented products in the house.  I switched to unscented laundry products and it cleared up with a few days.
