best way to clean toys for baby?

Hi-I have some toys (rattles and things) I would like to clean for my baby.  I don't want to put them in the dishwasher because I'm afraid water will seep in and ruin them.  What do you think is the best way to rid these of germs?

I clean off my childs toys with hot water and a mild soap deterget(Dish soap) on a rag. I don't submerse them, I just try to wipe them as clean as I can with the soapy/hot water solution...

Just some warm/hot soapy water will do the trick if they're just your baby's toys. I prefer to use an antibacterial dish soap but I'm sure others may disagree.

I ran a nursery for awhile and we always used bleach/water combo to wipe down...not submerge toys....also alcohol worked for smaller items.

I'd let the toys air dry for a bit and then wipe down throughly with a dry clean cloth.

By the way - since this is just 'your' child....the bleach thing is going a bit far...LOL

Sorry....I'm all scared of germs during the baby stage.

I'm having my second child and have no idea how to keep him safe from his big sister since she'll still be attending....preschool.  All those germs she'll bring home everyday....I'm so worried.....

I know I'm overreacting but any advice other moms may have for this scenario I'd appreciate.

Clorox makes a spray to use on countertops and highchair trays and stuff that is safe for kids.  It might be handy for toys.

Personally, the antibacterial dish soap and hot water is my choice.  There isn't anything more mild than dish soap, and it prevents exposing your infant to harsh chemicals.  The cold germs are healthier for a child than bleach reminents.  If you do choose bleach and water, there is a designated Ph level that is safe, and you would need Ph test strips to ensure that your mixture is safe and effective.....that is what Day care situations must use.....according to the health dept.
