birthcontrol

by nanki, Oct 03, 2004 12:00AM
I am 25 years old and have been taking the pill as birth control for more than five years now.  I have used about 3 or 4 different kind of pills in that period.  I want to have children in about a year or so and just want to know what is the minimum length of time for a person to be on birthcontrol before it can affect my chances of having children or when it is just not good for you to take anymore.  Is five years too long or not?

Thank you

I was on birth control pills from the time I was 15-25, went off to get pregnant and did in 1 cycle after stopping.  DS healthy.  Went back on pill after birth 26 then switched to patch at 29 went off birth control at 31 to get pregnant again, did before 1 cycle.  Had a m/c, waited and got pregnant again 3 mos after m/c.

My girlfriend was on birth control pill for 16 years straight went off to get pregnant, she waited until 3rd cycle after going off to try and did, right after 3rd cycle. Has healthy DD.

Hope this cryptic message helps.

I was on the pill for 18 years straight. Went off and have no problem getting pregnant. It doesn't affect your ability to conceive. No worries.

I was on BC for 8 years (19-27) and went off the pill and got pregnant within 3 weeks.  I dont believe BC delays getting pregnant once you stop the pill.

I would have to agree with everyone else I feel very fortunate I get pregnant right away after stopping the pill... Was on the pill 18-29 got pregnant first cycle off had three miscarriages before having a healthy daughter. Then went back on for 1 1/2 and got pregnant first cycle off again and am currently 24weeks pregnant with my son!!! I always feel for the moms who have a hard time conceiving...I could conceive easily but had a tough time holding onto the pregnancy....Finally figured out my HCG levels where too low to support the pregnacy so I take injections up 11weeks and thats when the placenta takes over....
