bleeding after miscarriage

i have been bleeding for 13 days now after a miscarriage and i was wondering how long i can expect this bleeding to last. I had an ultrasound that didn't show anything remaining in my uterus but i still continue to have spurts of heavy bleeding and also some passing of clots. I started taking birthcontrol pills on Sunday and i was wondering if it had anything to do with the bleeding maybe. your halp would be greatly appreiated as i havent gotten any answers from any doctors regarding the matter

I would go and get your HCG levels checked.. That is how they known when my uterus was empty.. My level got down to 4..(It's supposed to get below 5 and you're good).. I only bled about 5days and then right there with it started my normal period.. then everything was normal for me.. But everyone is different.

It was about couple of days for me also for the bleeding to stop. Personally, it's a little bit "too long" for you to bleed like that (nearly 2 weeks.) I just had a D&E done and the MD told me that the bleeding can be expected for 1-2 weeks (this is a little bit different since I had a procedure.) If I were you, I would call your MD again and again until he/she calls back for the answer. PLease ask Md for bloodwork. Good luck.
