bleeding again after miscarriage

by lizanne, May 24, 2004 12:00AM
I had a miscarriage on May 9th at 11 weeks, 3 days.
They did an ultrasound and said that I did not need a D&C.
I have had light brownish-pink bleeding the past week or so since the heavier stopped...
Last night I woke up to a gush of blood, and I also felt a big clot fall out when I went to the washroom. Today I am having pleeding like a period.  I haven't had cramps.
What's happening?

It sounds like you have not gotten rid of everything. You may want to call your OB. A lot of women on here have gone through the same thing and wound up getting a D&C to make sure that ll is clear. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. Let us know how it goes!!!!!

I am not sure what is going on either but wanted to send you some prayers. I am sorry that you are having to go through this. Call your doctor and let him know.

God Bless

I am sorry you are going through this and if this helps, I would request another ultrasound to make sure that there is nothing left in your uterus.  If you are continually bleeding, it most likely means that you haven't completely naturally expelled everything.  Good Luck!

Thanks.
I guess that I should know that ths is what is happening... but it just plain sucks.
I had a miscarriage in December, just the week after I had the blood test confirming... got pregnant again in feb-march... only to miscarry in May...
So obviously I have no problem getting pregnant... just staying pregnant... and i had no problems at all with my first pregnancy--he'll be 2 in august.
Any thoughts? suggestions?

also- do you have to wait longer after a d&c before trying again? last time my doc told me to wait 2 regular cycles.
I'm a basket case these days.  Emotional crying and headaches common???

My doctor told me at least one normal cycle, because it helps with dating.  I'm seeing a specialist now who prescribes progesterone and advises daily baby aspirin as soon as you get pregnant, because I guess those are the two most common reasons why people miscarry.  I'll cross my fingers for you if you will for me!!  Take care.
