bleeding gums!..

i know that my gums are prone to be more sensitive during pregnancy,but is there anything i can do to stop them bleeding soooo much?/im 28weeks pregnant and every time i brush my teeth they bleed real bad!i end up with more blood than tooth paste!(sorry!!)i even caught my gum slightly when i was eating a piece of chocolate a few days ago and again it really bled,didnt hurt just bled!i wouldnt of even know id caught my gum if it didnt bleed.i have had a visit to my dentist which is recommended when pregnant but that was at approx 4mths,
any ideas?..

I looked this up in my "What to Expect When You Are Expecting" book.  And it says that Vitamin C helps to strengthen gums, therefore reducing the possibility of bleeding.  So eat foods rich in Vit. C.  It doesn't say to take a supplement, so you want to talk to your Dr. about taking one before you do.  I would also suggest that you use a soft-bristle toothbrush.  And continue to gently massage your gums while you brush, this helps to strengthen the gum tissue as well.
