I spotted for about 3 days (first red, then brownish). Told my ob/gyn and everything was fine. I had a miscarriage 2.5 years earlier where I actually bled rather than spotting. I was scared too when I saw the spots, but when it stopped, I was happy.
Spotting during the first trimester is common because when the fetus attached itself to the uterus, it may bleed. When its brown, its because its old blood that was inside that had not come out.
As for the sharp pains, I would think it is cysts. I have polysystic ovaries (ovaries prone to cysts) and they can really hurt and that usually happens during ovulation. Check with your ob/gyn.
I spotted once and then 2 days later had red blood and passed a clot. I was sooo scared this was almost 4 weeks ago and everything is fine-i had chlamydia and bacterial vaginosis.. and was stressed:S
Hi - I spotted between 5wks 5days and 7 wks (on an off). I was totally freaked out, which is why I knew it was 5wks 5 days - I had an ultrasound that day, because I was so scared - I did see everything, including HB, which was so reassuring. My OB said implantation bleeding can occur between wks 6 & 7, which is where I was (and you). I had lots of side and back cramps, too (not sharp pain but sharp cramps). I am now 24 wks! Good luck! Oh, and spotting can occur in 50% of women throughout pg (I have not spotted since, but I know women who spot throughout). Again best of luck and congratulations on your little bean!!!
I spotted brown, and cramped the whole first trimester....Im now 15 weeks. The dr. said alot of woman spot and cramp in the first trimester. Good luck.
I have spotted on and off and everything is fine. I am 11 weeks today. They told me it was normal bleeding. They also told me that you have less than a 2% chance of M/C after hearing the HB.
Thank you guys so much. This really helped. The spotting has stopped completely so I am very happy. I will look forward to the day when I hear the HB and just keep on being positive for now. Thanks for all of your stories. :)
Just so you know I spotted from the day I found out (4 weeks) till 10w2d. I am 17w tommorow and everything is fine. I can feel my little peanut moving all the time. All bleeding is not always bad. I also had 2 m/c right before this pregnancy so I was scared to. Go get checked but I think you could be okay
Hi,
I thought I would share my experience with you... at 6 weeks 3 days, I bled enough brick red/brown to cover a pantyliner. I totally assumed I was miscarrying and I was so upset. But no more bleeding happened and by just the next morning it was already brown spotting and only when I wiped.
On an ultrasound, they found I had a subchorionic bleed, which is when the placenta lifts up a little after implanting. It causes various amounts of bleeding depending on how much it lifted up. My Dr. said in the VAST MAJORITY of cases the placenta heals just fine and grows back securely on the uterine wall.
Well, I had another ultrasound this past Tues at 13 weeks, and the dr said there is no sign of the bleed---all the edges of the placenta are securely down.
SO maybe this could be what's going on with you.Don't worry too much, apparently they are fairly common. Get into the Dr. as soon as you can and see if they can determine if this is what is happeneing.
But it also could be a cyst or a fibroid--they can bleed too.If it was a miscarriage, I would think the bleeding wouldn't turn to brown spotting that quickly. So I think you are fine.
But go to the Dr and see what they can find.
reading these posts have really helped me. i am 8 weeks had fresh red blood upon wiping last night , i taught for sure that i was going to miscarry. this is my first pregnancy so i dont know what to be watching for. i had a scan lastnight saw baby and good heart beat the doc didnt really say anything much about it. today seens to be really light brown blood only upon wiping. but having cramps and finding it really hard to think positive
I always spot, bleed and cramp during my last two pregnancies. Even my pregnancy symptoms go away and come back so much so i cinvince myself that I have miscarried. Both pregnancies progressed. i am now pregnant again and started to spot and cramp. Still scares the hell out of me!!! But a scan on Friday will hopefully bring good news and stop my worrying. wish you all the best. :)
