I miscarried 9/11/03, bled for one week after. No D&C--it was a natural miscarriage at 11 weeks (the baby had probably died well before the actual miscarriage). I bled again 10/3-10/9, then ended up in the ER on 10/17 b/c I thought I was hemmorraging--I was told it was my period, but to me, it looked like another miscarriage, which was ruled out. I bled for another week, til 10/24, then on 11/5, I started bleeding again, and it hasn't stopped. Besides the actual miscarriage and the one night in the ER, the bleeding has been pretty light, but there have been a few random clotsBlood clots, and old and fresh blood. My ultrasound and hormone counts in the ER were good--nothing could be seen in the womb, and the hormones were negligible. I have an appointment next week.
I'm so afraid this never-ending bleeding means something is very wrong. I want so much to get pregnant again, but I just keep bleeding. Please, someone, help me! I feel like I'll lose my mind waiting for my appointment next week.
Hi there, I wouldn't worry about it. I too was 11 weeks and had a mismiscarriage. I bled off and on from Aug to Sep, I near went out of my tree. Lots of clotting, it would stop for a week and start for a week and a half and stop for days and start again. It was aweful. As long as it's not heavy, don't worry about it. Sorry you had to go through this too, I know it's tough. Take care!
Thanks so much for the reassurance. Did you ever get any answer as to what caused the bleeding? All along, I've been told, basically, "Oh, you know, women just bleed." I realize doctors don't have all the answers all the time, but I feel I can't move on until I get some answers.
I had a natural miscarriage back in May of this year. I was only six weeks along. I bled for about three weeks and then it stopped for about two weeks and then I bled off and on for another 3 plus weeks. The bleeding was heavier and more uncomfortable the second time I bled. I finally called the doctor and they put me on progesterone for two weeks. This almost immediatly stopped the bleeding but then I didnt have a period for about four weeks after stopping that. That next period was super light (although I figured there couldnt be much left to my uterine lining at that point!) and then my cycle got back to normal. I asked the doctor about it and she said everyone's bodies respond differently. She said I coud tell you it is supposed to happen this way and someone else would come in telling me it happened very differently for them. But she was not concerneed at all that I would get back to a normal 28 day cycle as that is the way my cycles have always been.
I hear your frusteration. It is especially frusterating when you want to ttc again. But try to be patient becuase I do believe our bodies get themselves back on track. Sometimes it just takes a little longer then we want! Oh and neither the doctor nor the nurses could explain the bleeding and they never seemed overly concerned about it.
Thank you for posting. Another problem I have is that I never had regular cycles, ever--in fact, I rarely had more than two or three cycles a year before I was married, and I've only had one cycle in between pregnancies. I always thought it was a miracle I conceived any of my children, since I rarely ovulate. So to be told, "wait three cycles," or "wait til you get back to normal," makes me want to scream because I can go over a year without having a period AT ALL.
As of today, I haven't bled for 24 hours, so I'm a little more at peace, and I'm trying to prepare myself for the possibility of a hormone-induced treatment that will definitely postpone hope for conception...but might also make my body ready for another baby.
Just in case you check this post again, I was just wondering what happened in your case. I am going through the same type of thing that you mentioned in your post and I'm not sure what to do. Please let me know what you found out. Thanks!
I just miscarried last thursday (feb 12) and am still bleeding very heavily. I was about 9 weeks pregnant. And my doc keeps saying it is normal and I have been freaking out!! I am so glad to hear that it is in fact, normal. I should probably listen to my doc. She is awesome!! But it is just good to hear it from someone who has actually been through it!
My wife m/c at 6 weeks and 2 days, last september 26,2009. It´s been 6 weeks, and light bleeding hasn´t stopped, stops for 3 days and then comes back again, never heavy, she uses a pad a day and it´s not even heavy bleeding. We called the doctor and he said that there were 3 options for her 1) Take birthcontrol for regulating her period, 2) Take progesterone to stop the bleeding or 3) Wait naturally for the body to get back to normal. We are a little bit anxious about this situation, she is 28 years old and I am 31, it was our first attempt to have a baby. Please any opinion will be useful.
I had a miscarriageat 5 weeks...My levesl went from 7000 to 5000..At first they thought they measured me wrong. Anyway I bleed for two weeks exact and The doctor said I should get a period in two weeks after that...well I went three weeks with no period...we took another test and was positive...we thought we were pregnant again...went to the doctor again and found out it may be leftover hcg levels...and it was...but a few few days after that I started bleeding...but it was no normal bleeding...was brown and clots like it was alot with the miscarraige...doctor said they didnt think it was a new one cause of the timing......still bleeding over a week...Is this a period or something I should call the doctor back about???
Any further info would be greatly appreciated!!

Again, thank you. Patience is a virtue...
