blighted ovum and hcg levels

by starkat, Feb 27, 2007 12:00AM
hi all just wondering if any one had any comments on this situation.   i recently found out i was pregnant and due to unknow conception date had an ultrasound done which showed i was 7 weeks from LMP (or five weeks from conception).  a gestational sac showed up but no bub or fetal pole or yoke sak.  my HCG level at this time was 28,000.  i just had a follow up HCG level done 7 days later which is now 59,000.  im due for another ultrasound in 7days but the not knowing is killing me.  with these HCG levels could it be a blighted ovum or is it possible that the bub was just not ready to be seen?

with those numbers sounds like you were just too early for HB
good luck

The wait is hard, I remember mine in December/early January.  Remember that U/S really aren't all that accurate till they have a fetus to measure.  Hang in there, and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a healthy pregnancy!

With those numbers it wouldn't seem a blighted ovum, as they seem to be doubling ok. When i had a blighted ovum the most my levels got to were 1300, that was at 5 weeks, by 6w4d they were 1000 and bleeding had started.

It probably was just too early to see anything.

With my 1st blighted ovum my levels only got to 1,500 at 7 weeks and with my sencond the highest they got were 9,500 at 8 weeks.  Yours seem way better than that.  Hang in there I know the wait stinks but maybe you just need a little more time.  Good luck!

Hey
Its possible that its just not ready to be seen. I am supposed to be 8 weeks along tomorrow by my LMP and they just found my little one today on the u/s and now they tell me that Im 6 weeks along. Oh what a world! Dont give up hope, sometimes all those dates are just wrong!
