bligted ovum and cytotec pfizer induced abortion

by rsamano, Oct 21, 2006 12:00AM
My wife and I have a healthy 2 yr old boy but experienced two failed pregnancies before him (anembrionic pregnancy or bligted ovum) and now two after. Our doctor just recomended Cytotec from Pfizer to induce the abortion and expell the tisue. However, it´s been a day since the first dosage and almost 2hrs since the second. In previous experiences we were able to get over it in a matter of hours, and we are very worried and confused about what´s going on now. If you anyone can provide some insigth we would be very grateful.

Thank you

Sorry you have to go through this.

I had a blighted ovum in January, but it all happened naturally.  I think with a blighted ovum, the body is unsure what is going on and it just takes a while for it to realise that there is no baby to protect.

How many soes did the Doctor tell you take before something happened?

If he said straight away, then maybe you should contact him just to be sure that it is all normal.

Sorry I can't be of any further help. Each pregnancy or miscarriage is different, so even though your wife's previous one happened straight away, it doesn't mean this will be the same.

Good luck and hope you and your wife are doing ok emotionally.

Wow, I'm sorry for your losses.  I thought it was really rare to have more than one blighted ovum, so sorry for you both.  I took the cytotec in June for mine and it worked in 4 hours, but I was told it can take a few doses to get it going.  Maybe they didn't give you a strong enough dose, I took 6 pills when I did mine.  If you are on the second dose and it does nothing today, I would call your Dr. in the am and see what they want to do, especially since it has worked for her before.  Hope your weekend gets better.
