body symptoms § testing of HCG not making sense - any suggestions?

by mcgill4, Mar 10, 2004 12:00AM
I had two + HPT 2 1/2 weeks ago.  I started having backache and light vaginal bleeding a week later.  I have a previous history of ectopic pregnancy. So after exam OB said I had an enlarged uterus and closed cervix.  Did a blood test which came back <5 HCG and therefore negative pregnancy.  I had an us the next day which showed no sign of embryo in uterus.  OB said I had an early miscarriage and all was taken care of and did not need to see him again.  I should have been about 4-6 weeks pregnant and never had any severe or mild cramping only intermittent mild back ache.  I bleed for 4 days and then suddenly stopped.  I am still having preg. symptoms 8 days later-enlarged, tender breast, abdominal distention, morning sickness/nausea, frequent urination, and unusual fatigue.  I took another HPT today and it was negative.  Any suggestion or comments would be appreciated becasue I am so much at a loss I still feel pregnant and the dr is no help.  I do not feel I had a misscarriage, but do not know why my blood HcG went to nothing.  Thank you

I agree with you that your dr is not being really helpful or supportive, but neg HPT AND neg HCG surely means no preg. If you are really unsatisfied with your dr, see another one and have another test done and explain your continuing preg symptoms.

Hi feel for you but I had a m/c in October and even after the D&C, I still had a few symptoms. I guess the HCG really take some time to finally leave your system. Even now Ive noticed that during AF I get nauseous and sometimes have frequent urination. Im not really sure whats happening but if it persists, then I suggest that you see your OB/Gyn. All the best.

God bless

Hey there. Sorry for your going through this. I had an early m/c as well with back ache and light bleeding. I didn't have any symptoms to start=I knew it wasn't going to last. Test again in a week if you still have symptoms. Good luck!
