breast milk

Hi
Archie is 6 weeks old.  I am about to use the breast pump for the first time - how much milk will he need in one feed ?
He feeds usually every 3-4 hours.  I am due to go out next week and wanted to be prepared in advance.  Your advice would be much appreciated.  Ta Lolly

hmm... probably 3 ounces or so. have a bit more ready, but don't be surprised if he doesn't take it all.

Colten never took more then 4 oz of expressed milk at a time all 8 weeks that he was fed expressed milk-  probably every 4 hours or so...   so I'd agree,  somewhere between 2 and 4 ozs...

My son was eating about 4 oz at that age and it was every 2 to 3 hours. Breastmilk is digested faster so babies get hungry more often than if they were fed formula. Each baby is different, but about 4 oz per feeding sounds fine. Good luck!
