breech and post date?

breech and post date?

Due date came and went. I found out at a non-stress test that after being head-down all 40 weeks, my baby is now breech. But then he moved around a lot that day and who knows how he is now. (I'm pretty sure his head is at the top, and to the side some.) I've read that this can increase the risk of cord prolapse. I was wondering if other women were scheduled for C-sections because of this, or if the tendency is to let labor start and then see if the baby has moved.

when were u due??? my due sate was yesterday-the whole thought of non stress test scares me-i'm schduled for it if i dont have the baby by then-i am pretty sure if the baby is in breech postion-you need to have a c-section-my bf was a breech when he was born in 1979-he was a faternal twin and he came vaginally through his mama-i dont think i would be able to go through that-i hope the baby turns around for you

My son was breech 8yrs ago.  I found out 2wk before I was due.  They did a version, which is where they jelled my belly and flipped him.  Hurt like heck but was worth it.  I dreaded having a c-section.  Good luck!

was the version before going into labor or once you were in labor?

My son was footling breech...born 11 days early.  They were going to turn him, but I went into labor too soon.  Also, by the time I got to the hospital, it was already time to push!  Luckily, everything turned out fine.

I had a spontaneous delivery which is rare, and the reason they had no time to do the c-section.  In your case, (and if your doctor is not already doing something about this...i.e., checking position) if your water breaks before your next appt, just make sure you let everyone at the hospital know that you think the baby's breech.  That's what I did...even though everything happened so fast.

My son turned breech at 36 weeks, they turned him doing an aversion too, and he turned back breech a few days later.  Finally turned around 38 weeks.  Your little one can still turn, or the Dr. may try to do so, but they don't like to turn them once they get too big.  My son was born at over 10 lbs. so they think he was at least 8 lbs. when they turned him, and probably 9lbs. when he finally turned for the last time.  It's possible, they have to be pretty strong and stubborn. Has your Dr. talked to you about your options?  Usually they will schedule a C-section at this point or try to move the baby one last time before you go into labor.  Your uterus needs to be relaxed to turn the baby, so it's hard to do while in labor, and mine was not too comfortable when I had mine done.  I hope your little one turns for you.  Congrats, it won't be long now!
