c section, water broken in surgery

c section, water broken in surgery

Ok, a friend of mine asked me a question that i thought all of u might be able to answer.  She had a c section with her last baby but her water had already broken, it was an emergency one.  This time they have schedule the c section and she was wondering that when they break your water during the surgery does the water come out of the vagina also or do they suck it all out, she is kinda concerned, so i told her that i would ask to see if anyone here knew.  Thanks, Aimee

I had a c-section and I'm assuming they just sucked it out...not sure..but you are totally numb so she wont' feel it anyway.

I've had three c-sections. My first was also an emergency so my water had also already broken. My last being 9 1/2 months ago and I clearly remember hearing the fluid when they broke my water. My husband said it looked like a waterfall! What doesn't make it onto the floor will be suctioned. I don't think it leaks out of the vagina since the incision is higher & you are opened up.

I'm just plain old "Amy" but I'm gonna comment anyway.  :)

I have not had a c-section myself but my friend had one 2 months ago.  They suction everything out...including the water.  In fact, she was told that her post-partum bleeding should be significantly less than a vaginal birth because they are able to suck a lot of it out while they have you cut open!  :)  Lucky her!

i've had one csection so far, having another in november, and i remember them using the suction once they cut into the bag of water.  like the previous poster said, you are completely numb so it's hard to tell exactly how much of it runs down.
