can i eat ice cream when pregnant?

i ate a tub of ben and jerrys choc fudge brownie ice cream the other day and then read you shouldn't eat ice cream when pregnant! why is this? will it hurt the baby?

One of my friends told me not to eat those wippy ice creams from the machines so I looked it up on the internet and it said to be careful of what ice creams you eat! That's great though if its ok to eat them I can't get enough of ice cream lol
