cervical length/open forum

Hi girls,  I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on cervical length - when I went in for my big u/s the tech said it was 3.2 and I'm kinda worried because I heard it should be closer to 4 at 20wks.  Did anyone else find out their CL at u/s?

I don't really know anything about the length of the cervix, but I did find this online...

Normal course of cervical length
Wide variation in cervical lengths at 22-30 weeks
Length of 2.0 cm: 5th percentile
Length of 2.5 cm: 10th percentile
Length of 3.5 cm: 50th percentile
Length of 4.5 cm: 90th percentile
Cervical lengths shorten with gestational age
Gestational age 16-20 weeks: 4.0 - 4.5 cm
Gestational age 24-28 weeks: 3.5 - 4.0 cm
Gestational age 32-36 weeks: 3.0 - 3.5 cm

Interpretation: Short length associated preterm birth
First trimester length does not predict preterm birth
Length <1 cm: Mean birth gestational age 32 weeks
Length <1.5 cm: Mean birth gestational age 33 weeks
Length <2 cm: Mean birth gestational age 34 weeks
Length <2.5 cm: Mean birth gestational age 36.5

HTH!

Your doctor will let you know if there is a problem with your cervical length.  3.2 isn't long, but it is perfectly normal.  It may have even been that length all along.  The more important thing to know is this: is it getting shorter?  You have no way of knowing that now.  It could just be a normal length for you.  I would not worry.  You have no reason to at this point and you don't need the extra stress.

You can ask to have more checks of your cervix to make sure it is still an OK length, but chances are you are OK.  And that your doctor would do it on his/her own without you requesting it.

Even if you do have more monitoring it should just reassure you.  Chances are nothing is wrong, and even if your cervix is "short" you probably will still go overdue!  Lol.  Lots of women have uncontrollable contractions and have to be on bedrest and medication and you know what usually happens?  They don't go into labor!  They go overdue!  I just wouldn't worry at this point.
