chemical exposure

I AM 14 WEEKS PREGNANT, I WAS CLEANING CARPETS USING RUG DOCTOR HI-TRAFFIC PRE-TREATMENT CLEANING THAT CONTAINED ETHYLENE GLYCOL MONOBUTYL ETHER.  I HAD NO SYMPTOMS WHILE DURING THIS.  FIVE DAYS LATER, MY DOG VOMITED AND I USED THIS ON THE CARPET THINKING THAT IT WAS ALSO A SPOT REMOVER.  I ONLY USED IT ON A 8 BY 10 INCH AREA AND ONLY USED APPROXIMATELY 6 SPRAYS. I PICKED IT UP WITH A PAPER TOWEL.  I AM ALMOST CERTAIN THAT I DID NOT GET ANY ON MY HANDS.  THIS IS WHEN I NOTICED THAT IT CONTAINED THIS SOLVENT.  OF COURSE I WORRIED.  I HAD NO SYMPTOMS DURING THE NIGHT.  THE NEXT MORNING, I LOST MY APPETITE AND HAD SLIGHT NAUSEA THROUGH THE DAY ALTHOUGH I STILL ATE.  I NEVER DID HAVE NAUSEA WITH MY PREGNANCY.  ALSO, OVER A DAY LATER, I GOT A BAD HEADACHE FOR TWO DAYS, BUT THE NAUSEA SUBSIDED.  DO YOU THINK THIS WAS CAUSED BY THIS CHEMICAL EXPOSURE AND IF IT WAS, DID IT HURT MY FETUS.

I would let your doctor know what happened, and see what he thinks. I read that the chemical (when exposed to it for an extended period of time) can stunt fetal growth, so just make sure your doctor keeps a close eye. I know it's so hard not to but worrying won't help things. My suggestion would be to pray and thank God for the child inside you and let time tell. For future reference, especially after your little one arrives, try using all natural household cleaners. Mixitproductions.com provides some great alternatives to harsh dangerous chemical cleansers at a fraction of the cost! (My husband fixes engines for a living and they do the job even when he destroys the bathroom after work!) You'll be in my thoughts - please keep us updated.

I've got another question that pertains to chemical exposure as well.  We are ttc #2 and about a week ago my husband was out on our property applying Roundup weed and grass killer with a sprayer that you strap on your back.  You fill the tank with the Roundup mixed with water.  He walked around with the tank on his back for about and hour and a half.  When he came in he said that he had filled the tank too full and that it had spilled over all down his back, totally soaking his t-shirt.  He showered when he came in, but I'm concerned that the hour and a half exposure was dangerous to his sperm.  I will be fertile in about 8 days and was wondering if there is a danger that the exposure might have an effect on his sperm.  Any help would be appreciated.  :)
