I had a couple of Dr.'s tell mr to use egg white, or liquid vegetable oil as a lube for bd. They are both supposed to be sperm friendly. I never tried it though because it sounded to messy.

I never thought regular KY Jelly was bad for BD. I know for a fact that we used it when we conceived our baby, now 34 weeks and all is still well. In fact, I've known other couples who got pregnant while using KY too. Ask your doctor, but especially if your DH sperm count is normal, it really shouldn't pose a problem at all.

There are lots of people that get pg using KY jelly. But, compared to natural CM or preseed, it is not as sperm-friendly. For women who have trouble conceiving, it's not the best lubricant to use.

I don't have any expereience with so I might sound a little silly, but here it goes.......I've been reading on the posts that pre-seed works the same as KY jelly, but without all the consequences to ttc. Maybe if you voice your concerns to your Dr. the moght let you BYOL lol! Bring Your Own Lubricant and bring in the Pre-seed. Anywho, its worth a shot all they can say is no and its alot better than not asking(in my opinion).
GOODLUCK!

Dh and I bd 3 days before and the day of ovultaion, One of these we used KY and I am now 23 weeks 5 days pregnant. KY DOES  NOT kill sperm, it says right on the bottle that it contains NO spermicide and should not be used to prevent pregnancy. As mentioned above, it isn't as sperm-friendly as preseed or natural cm but it WILL NOT kill sperm.

Take Care & Good Luck

It doesn't kill the sperm, but it's not as sperm-friendly as preseed. Your doctor can squirt the KY into the u/s condom thing, and not use it on the outside- that's what mine does.

KY is water based, so even if your doc does use it on the outside of the wand, it will probably be absorbed by your body by the time you BD.

What about saliva?  My doctor spits on the wand first.  Would that kill sperm?
(I won't mention that his wand vibrates.  That might be TMI)

You know, on the preseed website, they actually include saliva in their comparison chart of lubes. I seem to recall that it didn't fare so well...probably because of the bacteria in the mouth.

Short answer- I wouldn't use it as a lube while TTC, but a little spit on the wand early in the day probably won't matter.
