clomid - low progesterone

by cully, Oct 18, 2006 12:00AM
Hi, i would really appreciate anyone's help here.  Me and my husband have been ttc for nearly 3 years and after discovering that i was not ovulating after having the deprovera injection i was put on clomid 2 months ago.  The first cycle using 50mg my progesterone on day 21 was 33.1 which i was told was very good.  after this my doctor told me no more ultrasounds were needed and to continue using 50mg.  unfortunately, i did not get pregnant and went onto second cycle, however day 21 progesterone was only 5.9 and the nurse told me that chances are i did not ovulate.  i then had to have a day 28 progesterone blood test which i have not got results for yet but i am not sure why i even had to get this if they believe i did not ovulate?? any ideas?  i am now on day 29 and waiting for my period to return so that we can start trying again - is there anyway i could have ovulated - i am beginning to get desperate!!  any help or advice would be greatly appreceiated, thank you

i think after you get off from BC, your body will need a few months to adjust & go back to it's own cycle... clomid helps you regulate your cycle as well as help your ovaries to ovulate... i'm on clomid myself & this is my 3rd month on it & im hoping id get pregnant this month already.... it takes a lot of patience but im sure we'll all get there...

have a good day

You might see if he'll increase your dose to 100 mg. The first time my doc checked my progesterone levels on clomid, it was 21, but the next cycle, it was only 13. He increased my dose, and my progesterone went back up that cycle to 20-something.

Clomid didn't work for me, but it has for a lot of ladies on here.

I am on my third month of clomid and the doctor thinks that I may not have ovulated this month.  I may have only ovulated on the second cycle.  I am going to start taking 100 mg. next month to get me to ovulate again.  I guess sometimes are bodies just throw us a curve ball occasionally.  Good luck!

last year i had a miscarriage and since then i have had very irregular periods.  i am new to clomid.  i took 50mg with my last cycle.  i had no side effects from the medication, but i also don't think i ovulated.  all my opk were - and my progesterone on day 21 was 0.8.  i called my doctor today b/c af came, so that i could get the perscription for the second cycle.  my doctor said that they would call a perscription in for 50mg, why would they keep me on the same amount if i didn't o with it, does anyone know?  also, how many cycles of clomid should you take.  i read a couple different sites that said 3, but my doctor said 6.  what to you all think?  also, my period this time after the clomid is very heavy and i have bad cramps is this normal?
