clomid and metformin

by bearfamily333, Feb 27, 2007 12:00AM
Has anyone here had good/bad luck with combining metformin and clomid? I am supposed to start the clomid at the end of this month and I have been on the metformin for a little over a month. I have been ttc for 2years now and nothing. I am really anxious to start a family. I dont want to get my hopes up but I want a family so bad.  I have never been pregnant and have been recently diagnosed with PCOS.  Anyone else in this situation?  Thank you for your advice.  I really need it!!

I also have PCOS. I found out a little over a year ago I have it.  I am 29 and almost 15weeks pregnant with my 1st.  I went to see a RE dr because I was not ovulating and to treat the PCOS.  I got pregt the 1st month of treatment on metformin (Fortamet) and clomid.  Sadly, my pregnancy ended in a m/c at 7 weeks.  This crushed me in ways that I cant even describe... but I kept faith and a miracle happened two weeks after my m/c.  I got pregt without any fertility medications on what my Dh and I call a "miracle accident".  Anyway, I do believe in the clomid/metformin combo.  My Dr assured me that many women experience m/c and go on to have a good pregnancy the next time! He said the m/c was most likely a chromosomonal defect and not necessarily because I have PCOS. I will never know what truly caused it to happen, but I try to find peace in my heart to believe that there was some wrong with my 1st angel and thats why it happened.  I stayed on metformin(Fortamet) until my 12th week of this pregnancy.  I go in tomorrow for my 2nd prenatal checkup to listen to the heartbeat.  I continue to pray for my miracle and for everyone who is waiting on theirs..... Thank you. That really gave me hope. I am sorry to hear about your loss but I am really happy you are pregnant now. Congratulations.  Hopefully this will work with me. I am really anxious to try it. Is there anything else along with the clomid and metformin I should be doing. Maybe something that helped you? I really appreciate your advice.  This forum has really been a blessing

Hi there I also have PCOS. We tried to get pregnant for 3 years and nothing doctors didn't have anwsers so we quite trying. A month later we were pregnant and had a healthy boy born June 2005. The second time it wasn't happening fast enough so I went on metformin and clomid got pregnant the first month but M/C 7 weeks later so 2months later tried again and now we have another healthy boy who is 7 weeks old. It worked for us so relax and keep trying. Marci
