Try giving him some infant probiotics.  It can help their stomach be better at digesting food.

tight swaddling; white noise; bouncing and swaying;

minimize sensory input both during the day when he is OK and at night during these periods. Dim the lights, turn off the TV.

wear your baby as much as possible. Studies show that babies worn during the day cry less in the evenings.

If your baby shows any signs of reflux, consult your pediatrician. Reflux and colic often go hand in hand, although not always.

For us, different combinations worked more on different days. Some nights, we would hold the baby swaddled tightly as we bounced on an exercise ball in a dark bathroom with the loud ventilation fan on for white noise. Seriously. It was exhausting but gave the baby some relief. Other nights, we could 5 to 10 minutes of quiet by having her swaddled tightly in the bouncy seat with the vibrate on, in the dark with the vent fan. A few times she was quiet for a few minutes and dosed sleeping in the reclined high chair in the dark kitchen with the stove fan on. The vaccum also sometimes snapped her out of it.

Unfortunately, all of these tricks helped temporarily and only gave a little relief. The only "cure" for colic is time and maturity. Some say colic is due to tummy problems, others say it is due to an immature neurological system. I suspect my baby's was primarily neurological but was aggravated significantly by her reflux. It peaked and was at it's worst at 8 weeks old, and faded to tolerable by 12 weeks. My little one had it terrible, with 7 hours of screaming at it's worst. Not crying, but shrieking. She even burst my husband's eardrum. It broke my heart and was one of the most difficult times of my life. My heart goes out to you, but know that it will pass. Once the colic was gone, my baby was an entirely different child. So happy and bright.
