contractions

My friend says shes been getting contractions, shes 22 weeks along, is it normal or possible to start getting them this early? what would the reason be for getting them this early?

They are more then likely BH - Braxton Hicks which are false contractions. However if she is not sure and they are causing a lot of pain she should go see her doctor or the ER ASAP.

i started getting them early in this pregnancy, i think somwhere around 20 weeks,

let your friend know if shes not drinking enough water it can cause her to have contractions, so make sure she stays hydrated, and like heartagram if they get painful have her call her dr or go to the er, but they are common in early pregnancy

I got Braxton Hicks with my first baby beginning at 16 weeks, felt them just before I felt the baby move.  I got them even earlier with my second baby, at 10 weeks.  I had active boys and they would set them off.  They can come on because of dehydration too though, like taysmommy mentioned.  When they hit, she should be sure to drink lots of fluids and slow down a little.  I got them when I was pushing myself too hard, more so at the end of my pregnancy.  She should also tell her Dr. about them and just make sure they don't come in a pattern or get too close or painful.  Otherwise, sounds about right, 22 weeks isn't too early.
