couple of questions on newborns.

Ryan is gaining weight well.  He was almost to his birth weight two weeks after he was born.  He had lost almost a pound because I wasn't producing enough milk.  Anyway, I found a formula that worked well with him and gas is better.

Question,
when do newborn focus on you?  He looks at me, but now long.  He is two weeks old today.

when do the shots start?

when do you add other things to diet? water rice ect..  I know it is way to soon but was wondering when?

No need for solids for a very long time, same with water. I didn't start either with my kids until after 6months and they were all big babies ; )

Newborns don't start to focus until I think about 4-6 weeks old.

Shots start at 1 month appointment.

Most pediatrians will say start solids (ie. rice cereal, oatmeal, then fruits and veggies) around 4-6 months depending on how baby is eating formula and developing.

Also, infants don't need a whole lot of extra water.  There is plenty in their formula to keep them satisfied.

4-6 weeks is when they will start to focus on you a little more. :)

4-6 months is when you are suposed to start cereal, veggies, etc....but I think it depends on the baby. I think that when they are not getting full enough they will let you know. My little guy's not here yet but I fully intend to go by what his tummy tells us instead of what the books say! :)
