couple of questions

couple of questions

I just found out my 8 year old has lice. fun stuff...

I'm 9.5 weeks pregnant, does anyone know if the shampoo is dangerous for me?

Also, has anyone else felt their babies move this early? I know 9 out of 10 of you are going to say I'm crazy, but I KNOW that's what I'm feeling. This is my fourth baby, and I know the difference between gas and a baby...anybody else out there feel the same?

Isn't it crazy how different pregnancies can be? With my first 2, I wouldn't even have known I was pregnant if they didn't kick once in a while. My third was a little more uncomfortable, but still very easy and uneventful. Now this one is kicking my a**!!! I have every symptom I've ever heard of, and then some. I even went to the ER at 6 weeks because the cramps were so bad I thought I was losing it, but apparently that's going to be "normal" for this one. Everyone keeps telling me it's harder because I'm older now, and my body is more worn out, but I'm still only 29!!! If it's true that it gets harder as we get older, then I have the utmost respect for women who do it after 35. OUCH!!!

I'm not sure about the shampoo, but I don't think you are feeling your little one just yet. The baby isn't any bigger than an inch and doesn't even weigh a ounce yet, so he/she wouldn't be strong enough for you to feel the kicks yet. Give it a couple of months and you will feel your little one. Yes, it's true that you will feel the baby sooner if you have had more children, but not this early.
Congrats on your little baby and I'm sorry to hear about your son having lice. I remember having that as a child and it was horrible!! I have 4 kids and have been lucky that none of them have brough it home from school!! (yet)

regarding the lice, the otc shampoo should be ok(you should check w/ your ob to be sure) my daughter had it when i was pregnant and i was able to use it. Ironically she had it again just a couple of weeks ago, fun, fun, fun. :)

As far as the shampoo for the lice, I'd keep away from it personally.  Have the DH handle the part, as well as the spraying of the bedding and such.  Not sure if you've ever had to deal with it, but it is horrendous what you have to go through to get rid of that horrible little bug.

As far as feeling the baby move, you baby is still super small and not even taking up the full size of your uterus just yet.  So I'd say not yet, with baby #4, possibly around week 13 or so.  I started feeling mine (#3 for me) around 13 1/2 weeks.

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that you can use REAL mayonaise to remove lice.  Put it on your daughters head and let it sit for several hours (cover it with a shower cap).  Make sure that it is not Mircle Whip, but mayo with lots of oil.  You can also use shampoo that has green tree oil in it.  You can get it at Wal-Mart with the regular shampoo.  It is Neutrogena and it is with the dry scalp shampoo.  It is a dark brown color of shampoo.  You just wash your daugher's hair with this and then put Panten conditioner in your daughters hair and put a shower cap on for about an hour.  Use a lice comb and you comb every strand of hair.  It will take hours, but it really does work.  Make sure that you bag up EVERY stuffed animal, barbie, or doll with synthetic hair.  You can get lice spray at Wal-Mart.  Make sure that you spray all furniture, mattresses, carpet and then vaccume everything.  I hope this helps.  Kasie

PS.  Just food for thought.  30% of all lice shampoo gets absorbed into your body.  NOT good for you or your child.

RuthiePee was saying she has some comb that is great from getting rid of the lice in one treatment, she said it gets all the nits and bugs at the same time, ( i remember when i was young my mom had to do it multiple times with the treatments she got) but hopefully she will comment and tell you what its called, i forget

good luck, i kno lice stinks! call your doc in the mornin and ask about the fumes, their nurses should be able to tell you if its dangerous, and dont worry about calling too much, thats what their there for!

you dont have to use chemical shampoos , in uk they recomend normal conditioner and lotttttttttts of it and come it through with a lice comb as they cannot hold on to the slippy hair  and to this once a week to prevent a new outbreak . x x

There are herbal nontoxic shampoos that work really well.  I know they have them at Walmart and health food stores.  Make sure you nit-pick thoroughly as one louse can reinfect an entire household.

good luck, my daughter (15) was a junior counsellor at a kids' camp last summer and she came home with them....that week they went through the camp like wildfire.
