couple qiestions with breastfeeding

well i plan on breastfeeding and hopefully it works out-i was just wondering when do most women start their period when they breastfeed?? i am looking forward to not having it even more-ha-also is there some kind of birthcontrol i could go on for a little bit while breastfeeding?? i dont want to harm the baby-i have never been on birthcontrol birth and i hear different stories-like gaining weight and such-i do plan on having another baby anotehr time-but not for a while and i just want to be extra careful-my first baby is a well surprise(:

I have been nursing for 16 weeks and I have not gotten my 1st post-partum period.  I was prescirbed the mini-pill for birth control but I never took them since I don't want it to affect my milk supply.  We are just being x-tra careful.  I think the pill affect people differntly.

A lot of women don't get their period until baby starts consuming a lot of other foods, like about 6-8 mos. I got mine at 8 weeks with my 1st, and 30 days with my 2nd. I was breastfeeding exculsively both. I guess it really depends on your body.
You can take the mini pill (progesterone only) for b/c while breastfeeding, but condoms or an IUD may be a better choice if you are nervous of hormones.

I nursed for 14 weeks with my 1st and did not get my period until he was 6 months old--nursed same for my second but went on the pill right away--so had normal periods.

I got my af at 6 weeks with my first and at 3.5 months with my second.

had my first post partum period 16 weeks later while breastfeeding.  the bc pill does cause some ppl to gain wait.  i personally gained 20 lbs w/it.

I am eclusively breast feeding. It's been a little over 6 months since I gave birth to my DD and I still have not had a period.

I breast fed my daughter exclusively for the first 6 months...then began supplementing and was pg by 7 months.

I breast fed my son for 12 months, and my cycle appeared around 10 months (when they are eating more table food, and not quite as much breast milk)
