how many sperm cells are in cowpers fluid?  how easy (or hard) is it for one to become pregnant within the first week after the end of the last menstrual cycle, and from only a single discharge of cowpers fluid?

I don't know for sure how much sperm is in this pre-ejaculatory fluid, but it is possible to be impregnated from it.  

Just to make sure we are on the same page, cowpers fluid is simply the few clear drops that PRECEDE ejaculation.  It can contain some sperm.

As to how hard it is to get pregnant near the end of the first week after your period, it is not hard at all.

The first day of your period is day 1.  An average period last 4-7 days.  You will ovulate around day 14 from the START of your last period. (If you have a 28 day cycle).  So, if you have sex say on, day 10-12 or so, the sperm can live in your reproductive tract for several days.  They could still be alive when you ovulate.  

If you have a concern, wait until your period is at least several days late before testing.  There is no advantage to trying to test before you miss.  If you don't want to be pregnant, there is still plenty of time.  If you DO want to be pregnant, you don't need to go to the doctor that early.  
So wait  a bit and see.
