cradle cap

cradle cap

What does cradle cap look like?  How do I treat it?  My daughter has had a very dry scalp since she was born.  I don't know how to get rid of it really, right now I try and pick it off. Any help?

Dont pick it-when she's in the bath use soap and a baby hair brush to gently scrub it....it will go away eventually...(is it yellow and waxy looking?)

You can get Disney brand cradle cap cream from Target.  My son got it real bad and doc told us to us Cellbulex shampoo.

My daughter had it bad too.  I would rub a little baby oil on her scalp about an hour before I would bath her and then gently brush it through.  Then during her bath I would shampoo her head and it made it nice and soft.  This worked.

I agree with above post.
I used baby oil and then a baby comb and brushed in the opposite direction.
It got rid of it right away and never came back.

It isn't yellow and waxy, just dry and scaly looking.

A good ol' toothbrush works wonders on cradle cap.  Also there is some stuff that you can apply on it to make it come off easier, but it also makes their hair really greasy looking.  Get a toothbrush that is soft like a baby one, and just lightly rub it around the area, works great!

Dry and scaly can be cradle cap too...I would use the soap or baby oil with an infant brush each night during the bath.

P.S. Dont do what I did!  The day before my DD's newborn photoshoot, I scrubbed her head and her poor head was so flaky and dry in all her pictures!

I agree with the baby oil and a baby brush.  I think it helps too if you do this every night.  I would also leave a little baby oil on thier head/hair after thier bath.
Good Luck

just to let everyone know about the baby oil thing.  Many people do not realize this, but keep that stuff up and out of your babys room and reach.  There was a child that got into baby oil that was on the changing table, and ate some of it.  The baby died.  So, I just wanted to tell people because you never stop to think that a baby product like that is something that needs to be put up high.  I know that people use it and put it on the changing table for easy reach.

I do agree with that some kids are just pron to have a baby case of cradle cap, and it will go away after awhile, because I know my youngest daughter no matter how much I tried to get rid of it, it came back until one day it was gone.
