cramps at 4 weeks

cramps at 4 weeks

I just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant. I went to the doctor yesterday and was told nothing was showing on the sonogram. The doctor said its super early in the pregnancy to be showing up. I've been feeling cramps (no bleeding) for the past week. the cramps are now only on my left side. The doctor wants to see me in 48 hours.  Is this normal? I am worried about it being an ectopic pregnancy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! =)

Thank you Stacey. I do feel a little better. I completely understand about having a guarded joy.  This is my first pregnancy and I've heard so much about all the different complications that could go wrong, I get really worried.

Im glad to hear the cramping seems to be a normal thing. Good luck with your next u/s. =)

I am 5w5d pregnant and I went to the emergency room last week because I had bad right-sided pain.  They did a sonogram and couldn't see anything and they said it was too early.  The drew my blood every 48 hours to make sure it was rising normally.  (I think it typically doesn't rise normally in an ectopic).  Then 2 days ago, I went in for an u/s and they did see a sac.  They couldn't see anything else, but at least they think the pregnancy is where it is supposed to be.  Hope this helps a little.  I still have cramping, but it is on both sides now.  Last night, it was pretty bad and I was nervous, but it seems better this morning.  I have had previous miscarriages and I seem to have a very guarded joy right now.  I am going back in one-two weeks to have another u/s to make sure they see a heartbeat.  Maybe I will relax a little then.

I cramped early on.  I am now eight weeks, starting week nine,  and it has stopped, but I cramped for the first 5 weeks.  According to my doctor, if there is no bleeding, then it is not a big worry (unless it's on one side, as you know, but that could be nothing too).  My doctor said that cramping is normal, because everything is expanding and you get cramps.  I am also reading a really good book called "The Pregnancy Countdown Book".  It is written partly by an OB, and partly by some mom's.  It counts down day by day and tells you each day what you should be going through.  The OB gives advice throughout the book, and what she says on week five is "Be prepared for bad cramps!".  She said that she was terified when she got cramps, because they had always told her in residency that cramps were a bad sign.  But she says that she learned they are actually very normal.  This is coming from an OB.

I am 5w5d and I had such bad cramps on the right side that i could barely walk and went to the ER on Sunday.  They did a pelvic and everything was fine.  They went away the next day.  I've been having cramps in my abdomen on and off but I was told these are all normal.  I had spotting as well for the first week I found out I was pregnant and at the ER they check and the cervix was closed so all is good so far!  I go in for my first obgyn visit on Monday, I'm really excited!
