diagnosed blighted ovum, but increasing hcg??

diagnosed blighted ovum, but increasing hcg??

I went in for my first ultrasound at 7 weeks, 5 days.  Dr. said that it was a blighted ovum with no embry in the sac.  No fetal pole was visable.  She said to go home and that I would MC on my own at home over the weekend.  We did hcg levels that day and the results were 6,480.  2 days later, no mc and my levels increased to 8,700, and 2 days later than that they levels were over 10,000.  I'm going in for a repeat u/s in 4 days, but I'm wondering why my levels are increasing if there is no baby.  This is my first pregnancy and we are devestated!
Is it possible that there could be a baby because the levels are increasing, or am I just getting my hopes up for nothing???
Thanks!

I am so sorry that you are going though this. The way that your levels are rising make me believe something is wrong since they usually get pretty close to doubling. During a blighted ovum the levels continue to rise and the sac gets bigger but no baby is present. It could be that it is too early (since some people haven't seen a fetal pole until 8 weeks at the earliest). Hopefully you're next ultrasound will give you more information. I will keep you in my prayers and hope for the best.
