did i have a miscarriage??

ok..i found out i was pregnant on a thursday. on friday i had heavy bleeding and cramping. saturday i went to the hosital. they said i was only 3 weeks pregnant. my hcg level was 49 they said i had a miscarriage. monday i went back. my hcg leves went up to 122! they told me the baby survied and my cervix was closed. so wednesday i went back again my hcg level was 275. 2 days later it was 400. i was so happy. but then 2 days later my level went to 275. they told me oops i guess you did have a miscarriage...this was last week and is hard to accept. i still feel nauseous and now my boobs hurt more than they did last week. how can my hcg level keep going up all week then drop like that?
