dyeing easter eggs---what age?
DS is 19 months old.  I don't want to deny him this experience, but he just seems so young.  I can see it turning into a disaster.  Anyone dye eggs with children around this age?

maybe if you let him color it with crayons before you dye it.

or, you could let him place stickers on eggs you have already dyed. Less chance of breakage with this one.

My son is 2 years 3 months; he would be keen on the stickers, but if I let him within ten feet of dye, it would be all over.  (The dye, that is.  All over the floor, table, chairs, himself, the cat, and anything else near.)  Since he won't remember anyway, I'm putting off Easter fun until next year.

i have a 4 yr old a 3 yr old and a 20 month old, i take them outside on the grass on top of a card board box and let them put the egg in the dye and the i take the egg out and tell em its dirty and put it to the side, once you hand em another egg they forget about the one you just dyed

Quinn is 2 this Easter but although I am going to make Easter exciting with an egg hunt I am not going to color eggs with her this year. I figure next year it will go over easier. :)

alex is only 6 months, and heck yeah we're dying eggs! he holds things good, so i figure if i do it in the kitchen floor, we'll be fine....plus, i'm going to use food coloring, rathern than egg coloring, since chris' son is going to draw on them first, so i'm not worried about anything toxic....just because he won't mentally remember, doesnt mean i'm not going to spend the next 5 years hoarding blackmail materials ;)

oh and if he drops it, big whoop, as long as he doesnt try to smoosh it, all is well ;)

Ashtyn helped dye eggs when he was 10 months old last year, he sat in his high chair and did great. He will be 22 months this year and I fully intend on coloring eggs with him this year too! I will probably take him outside if it is warm...but if not, we will figure it out!

oh and another tip for toddlers. Use spray bottles with color water & let them spray the eggs. Eggs can either be white or already dyed. That way they are still helping.
