ectopic pregnancy? Please help

ectopic pregnancy? Please help

Hi, I need help, please. I had a tubial ligation in 2000, within a year of having it, I miscarried two times and was warned about ectopic pregnancy.
Well for the past 3 weeks I've felt pregnant. Peeing a lot, nausus, tired... But I had my period. Doctor told me to take a HPT which came back negative. Now the doctor wants to do a blood test. But I REALLy don't want to.
There are times I feel pregnant, but other times I'm like NO NO NO.
Lately my lower abdomen feels full (not sure how else to explain it) and I feel like I have period cramps, but I just got off my period last weekend. I never get cramps AFTER my period.
The last two days my lower abdomen has been hurting a lot. it's tender everywhere, but VERY tender about an inch down from my belly button and over a little bit, and right above my pubic bone. My left shoulder has been hurting too.
I just don't know. Does this sound like an eptopic pregnancy? Should I do the blood test? I have a doctor's appointment for Wed. the 4th. But I could use some advice right now. Please help asap. Thanks

I would do a blood test for SURE.  Ectopic pregnancies are no small thing...and can be very dangerous..I had one that ruptured and it's VERY painful and VERY dangerous.  Good luck!

The first thing that crosses my mind is why did you conceive TWICE after a tubal ligation?

While they are not foolproof, the failure rate is along the lines of 1 in 500 or so IF DONE PROPERLY.

So clearly, your tubal ligation needs to be redone, because something is not right.  And yes, you are at high risk for an ectopic.  You do need a blood test.

Listen - you need to get checked out ASAP.  Pain in the shoulder is a MAJOR symptom of ectopic pregnancy.  Please do yourself a favour and get a test as soon as you can.  If it is ectopic and does rupture, you could be in for a world of hurt.  I'm not trying to scare you - just want to make sure you are okay!

I will get a blood test on Wed. when I go in for my appointment. Thank you for replying to my post. I just don't know what to think. Part of me feels like this is something to worry about. (an ectopic pregnancy) but another part of me feels like it's just a kidney infection or something like that. (when I breathe now, my lower back on left hand side hurts, so I think it might just be a kidney infection). Thanks again for helping me, and if anyone has any information on if the pain I'm feeling sounds like the pain of an ectopic pregnancy, please let me know. I'm kind of scared to go into the doctor, for fear of what he'll find. Thanks again, Rhealene

Hi there! PLEASE go get checked because the symptoms you are describing DO remind me of my own ectopic.  Also, sinc you have had a tubal ligation AND gotten pregnant since, you are at higher risk for ectopic.  When you have an ectopic, you bleed and spot off and on (at least i did) and you might think it's almost like a normal period...the shoulder pain is a sign as well.  Your doc would probably do beta levels every 48 hrs after a pos blood test to diagnose ectopic IF he doesn't see anything in the uterus..but I really wouldn't wait if you are having those pains...mine was so painful when it ruptured that it was worse than natural child birth...I hope you are ok and PLEASE keep us posted!! (((((((HUGS))))))i will be thinking of you!

I can understand being concerned and scared about going to the doctor. But to be quite honest, if it is an ectopic pregnancy, you need to be seen much sooner than Wednesday. Pregnant women tend to have some weird kind of intuition when it comes to their bodies even more so then they would not pregnant. If your gut is telling you something is wrong you should get in ASAP. I would actually go as far as to suggest you go to the Emergency Room today. Kellie was unfortunate enough to have an ectopic rupture last year and she can definitely attest to how painful and potentially dangerous that can be.

So please consider going in now, I think if it is an ectopic, waiting until wednesday may be too long. The pain in your shoulder can be huge indicator of an ectopic , as well as the pain on one saide of your pelvis. It is possible it could be something else, but with something so serious it is best to get in NOW.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Hi. I tried to call the doctor to try to be seen earlier, but they are only open on Wed. (grrr) I can't go to the ER, because that costs a lot of money.
But, my pain has lessened some. It is still tender in my lower abdamin and below my belly button, but not as bad today. And my lower back isn't hurtting.
I promise to keep you posted after my doctor's appointment, and I thank you all for replying to my post. Take care and thanks agin, Rhealene
P.S. Someone had posted earlier asking why I had two miscarriages within a year after getting fixed. I forgot to respond. After my 2nd miscarriage, the doctor told me that sometimes when a woman gets fixed right after having a baby, that when the swelling goes down, those tubes can connect again and heal together. That was the reason I was told.

Please don't look down on my decision.I am 42yrs old with 3 children already.I did a Urine test that proved postive to pregnancy. As this is an unwanted pregnancy I was referred to a Preterm clinic. When I went yesterday they did an ultrasound normal and internal. They said it was very difficult to find anything. This could have been as I was <5/40.They performed the procedure anyway but could find no sac. They say this could be because I have an eptopic pregnancy. This has scared me more than a termination.I have had another blood test today and will find out tomorrow morning.I had no idea about shoulder pain being a possible cause.I have had pains like that since my period was due in Jan 04.
I am unsure of where to go after this if it proves to be an eptopic pregnacy.

Hi! I have a few questions in regards to etopic pregnancy. I am currently 3 weeks late for my peiod. About 2 years ago I had a tubal ligation by way of cauterization. My periods have never been irregular or abnormal. While I was working one day I noticed that my neck and upper right shoulder were a little a little sore, thinking that i had maybe pulled a muscle, I was not to concerned, however towards the end of the day I had a sharp, shooting pain in the same erea, that lasted all through the night and into the following day. I did not associate this problem with my possible pregnancy, until I happened to be searching the net. Should I be concerned? I have no signs of pregnancy other than being late and some mild cramping in my lower back and the left side of my abdomon. Also I did take a hpt, which came up negative.
