exercise and breastfeeding

i been told that exercise while you are feeding can make the baby reject the breast and also dry up your milk! Im realy wanna lose my baby fat but wondered if it was safe?breastfeeding my baby is more important to me!

I have never heard that. As long as you are making up for fluids lost while exercising your milk shouldn't dry up. Also, make sure that you are still taking in enough calories, keep the foods you eat healthy and you should loose weight pretty easily while nursing.
You could always post this question in the breastfeeding forum to get more answers.
Yes, it is safe. Walking is a great exercise after having a baby. I liked mommy and me exercises when my son was born, there are lots of videos out there to choose from.

I nursed my first child and am nursing my baby girl now. I feel the same way you do, but, as with my son, my doctor said that you need the extra calories for milk production, over doing the exercise can dry up your supply. Nursing your baby boosts your metabolism and within 6 weeks of having my first child I was back into my pre-pregnancy clothes and within 6 months I was 15 pounds lighter than when I got pregnant. I have the little flab pouch on my tummy right now, my daughter is only 3 months old, but my body is shrinking more and more from nursing and we go for walks together as a family in the evenings. Don't push the exercise too much, having a milk supply is more important.

The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy mentions that some women retain body weight during breastfeeding, even tucking it into secret spots like the underarms, apparently on the genetic instruction that if you are feeding another, you must have the extra.  So don't be discouraged if you aren't one of those for whom the weight just melts off because you are breastfeeding.

i exercise almost everyday and have been doing so for a good while.  i don't know how old your baby is but nolan is 9 months old.  he does not reject anything and i definately eat and drink (water) a lot so that might make up for my exercising. :)

I exercise for 2 hours a day, and there is nothing wrong with my milk supply. My son was born 2 weeks ago, and I can pump an 8 ounce bottle (from one breast) in less than 10 minutes. I just make sure to replace the water I am losing through sweat by drinking lots of water (I normally drink 4-6 32 oz containers a day).

After reading Annie's comment I hope I didn't make it seem like the weight will just melt off. It was hard for me to loose the weight but I did seem to loose a lot quicker while nursing then I did after I stopped. I definitely did not loose all of my pregnancy weight.

I went for 4-hour walks and inline skating with stroller for a year and the weight had fallen off in all the right places, however, until I stopped breastfeeding after 11 months, I always had a bit of a "spare tire" around my waist. That was likely the body`s reservoir to maintain reliable milk production. It disappeared two weeks after I stopped nursing. So I think usually our bodies make sure to provide the essentials for baby. I wouldn`t worry.
