fetal heartbeat at 13 weeks

I had a ultrasound done at 9 weeks.  Heartbeat was strong.  I went a couple days ago at 12 and a half weeks.  I was check with the smaller doppler device and a heartbeat was not heard but the placenta was very loud.  The nurse told me not to worry because I have not spotted or been having cramps.  I still feel pregnant.  Should I be worried?

I can tell you not to worry, but if you are like me, you will worry.  It isn't encouraging not to hear the heartbeat.  I am surprised that they did not give you an ultrasound to confirm a heartbeat. You can call you doctor tomorrow and demand one.  This is why I say that...Friday I went in (15w3d) and they used the doppler to listen to the heartbeat and the reading the nurse kept getting was 111, which is too low.  I left the office crying and thinking I was having another miscarriage. When I got home, I called and demanded an ultrasound to determine the heartbeat and make sure everything was ok. They did it and the heartbeat was 146. So, demand and ultrasound because there is nothing worse than waiting. I will keep you and your baby in my prayers.

Usually with a doppler they cant hear the HB. I know when I was in the hospital at 12wks5days they tried it on me and I had an US and it should 189 HB. So I wouldnt worry with a doppler. But I do agree with the other comment, if you dont feel comfortable then get an US.
