fetus no heart beat

my wife is approx 9 wks pregnant,  no heart beat was detected with an ultrasound, but has growth.  what are the chances of having the heart to beat.

In my first pregnancy, we weren't able to see it until 11 weeks. Don't worry.

thanx for the hope rawina.  we go back to the doctor friday 7-6.  i have been searching through all the past forums for helpful comments and hope.  my wife doesnt understand medical english, so i am learning of the female body and pregnancy, I dont know all too much.  the past forums are helpful.  her u/s today was external and internal.  fetal pole is there, but no hb..  We hope tom. good news will be told.  it is possible she is not 9 weeks,  i have more questions now after reading past forums for the doctor.  thanx again

my first ultra sound was on the week 11th and we couldn't hear the heart beat, you will hear it soon, after the 11th week good luck

Hi Chenco,

Well first of all I wish nothing but the very best for you and your wife, as this could be a stressful time. At exactly 9 weeks, I did have ultrasound ( my 1st one to be exact) where no HB was found. Dr. told me not good that they should of heard a HB by 6 weeks, everyone is different. However after no HB was detected they did blood work to check HCG levels where they had dropped. That would be a very good indication if something is seriously wrong. My #'s dropped and I had to have a d&c as to whats called " a missed miscarriage ". I hope you and your wife get much better news than I did. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
